Jakarta, Aktual.com – Institute Save Lake Toba Foundation (SLTF) been concerned about the events in Haranggaol, Simalungun.
As reported earlier, hundreds of tons of fish died suddenly in the waters Haranggaol, Simalungun allegedly due to lack of oxygen.
“If the fish dead were not immediately transported from Lake Toba, can be a source of disease, both for humans and other fish that still survive,” said Hanson Munthe, Secretary General of Save Lake Toba Foundation.
Based on data released by the Environment Agency (BLH) of North Sumatra in 2012, the quality of water, air and land cover index reached 60.75. The figure was down 13.73 points (18.4%) of IKLH in 2011 that is at an index of 74.5.
One effort to maintain Environmental Quality Index is to minimize the presence of Keramba cage (KJA), reduce pollution of environmental good of the household and the hospitality industry, or other businesses that are in the area of Lake Toba potentially add to the pollution.
Hanson hopes that all parties can participate clean up Lake Toba, both owners Keramba cage (KJA), and the government, because this is a disaster.
