Mantan Presiden dan Perdana Menteri Timor Leste, Xanana Gusmao menjadi pembicara di acara seminar The 2nd Annual Malang International Peace Conference (AMIPEC) dengan tema “Building International Peace Network” di Universitas Islam Raden Rahmat Malang, Jawa Timur, Jumat (19/8). Dalam konferensi tersebut, Xanana mengatakan Timor Leste, sebagai bangsa yang merdeka, hari ini berperan serta secara aktif sebagai agensi perdamaian atas berbagai konflik dan mendorong rekonsliasi serta fasilitasi demokratisasi di berbagai belahan dunia seperti di beberapa negara Afrika, sebagai bentuk kontribusi mendorong perdamian dan rekonsiliasi, "tanpa perdamian tidak ada akan ada pembangunan. Konferensi ini di hadiri beberapa pembicara antara lain Chong Ming Hwee (Bahaai International Community, Singapore), Lukman Hakim (Sufi Centre,Jakarta) dan Duncan Graham (Australian Jurnalist). Malang, Aktual.com – Former of Timor Leste President Xanana Gusmao became speaker in ‘The 2nd Annual Malang International Peace Conference’ on the campus of the Islamic Raden Rahmat University, Malang.

At the event with the theme “Building International Peace Network”, Xanana stressed that without peace there will be no development.

“Timor-Leste as an independent nation, today participate actively as the agency of peace on the various conflicts in the world,” Friday (19/8).

Moreover, he added, encourage reconciliation and facilitate democratization, as in some African countries, as a contribution to encourage peace and reconciliation.

The young people are expected to be an asset as well as having a vital role to the relay leadership and capabilities with social networking today goes beyond borders between countries.

“Young people should be able to keep the peace for the sake of continuing civilization ‘civil society’,” said Xanana.
The conference, which takes place from 18-19 August 2016, is fed by a number of other speakers, namely Chong Ming Hwee (Bahaai International Community, Singapore), Lukman Hakim (Sufi Centre, Jakarta) and Duncan Graham (Australian Journalist).
