Jakarta, Aktual.com – Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Suhariyanto said the price increases on education, recreation and sports became one of the contributors of inflation in September 2016 amounted to 0.22 percent.

“The education, recreation and sport contribute to inflation by 0.52 percent, with the largest contribution is the increase in tuition colleges and academies,” said Suhariyanto in Jakarta, Monday (3/10).

Suhariyanto talk other expenditure groups which contribute to inflation are food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco 0.34 percent, health 0.33 percent, and housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel 0.29 percent.

In addition, he said, transportation, communication and financial services also contributed to inflation in September 2016 amounted to 0.19 per cent followed by the clothing as much as 0.13 percent.

However, foodstuffs in September 2016 accounted for 0.07 percent deflation due to a decline in the price of rice, chicken eggs, chicken meat, carrots and cayenne pepper.

“Overall, the causes of inflation, judging from the commodity is the pulse rates of mobile phones, home rental rates, the cost of college and the academy, filter cigarettes, electricity tariffs and red pepper,” said Suhariyanto.

From the 82 cities of the IHK, inflation accounted for 58 cities and 24 cities experienced inflation. Sibolga was 1.85 percent in inflation and the lowest in Banyuwangi Purwokerto 0.02 percent respectively. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Pontianak 1.06 percent.

With inflation in September 2016 reached 0.22 percent, the rate of inflation from January to September, 2016 reached 1.97 percent and the inflation rate from year to year (yoy) 3.07 percent.

“Having regard to the rate of inflation of 1.97 percent, then we would expect the next three months inflation remained under control so that the inflation target can be achieved,” said Suhariyanto.

Meanwhile, the core component inflation in September 2016 was recorded at 0.33 per cent with a core component inflation year-on-year (yoy) reached 3.21 percent.
