Jakarta, Aktual.com – Chevron Indonesia Company Ltd announces Bangka Field Development Project in East Kalimantan, began producing first natural gas.

“First gas Bangka Project is an important achievement to continue to support the government to produce energy safely, efficiently, and reliably for Indonesia,” said Managing Director of Chevron IndoAsia Business Unit, Chuck Taylor in a release received in Jakarta, Wednesday (31/8).

Bangka become the first stage of the Indonesia Deepwater Development Project (IDD) Chevron in East Kalimantan.

“This project also demonstrates Chevron’s commitment to bring global capabilities and the latest technology to Indonesia as well as implementing best practices and expertise from development projects in our sea around the world,” added Taylor.

Bangka project has an installed capacity of gas of 110 million cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) and 4,000 barrels of condensate per day.

Chevron holds a 62 percent ownership stake in Bangka project with other partners are Tip Top 20 percent and Eni 18 percent.

Government approval for a final investment decision or “final investment decision” (FID) was given in 2014.

Furthermore, Chevron commenced drilling deepwater wells in the second half of 2014.

Taylor also said that, for more than 90 years, Chevron has met the energy needs of Indonesia, drive economic growth, and supporting community development in East Kalimantan and other operations.

Besides in East Kalimantan, Chevron operates in Riau.

Of the oil fields in Riau onshore and offshore East Kalimantan, the Chevron produces more than 12 billion barrels of oil.

Besides oil and gas, Chevron also operates a geothermal field in West Java, namely Darajat and Salak.
