Jakarta, Aktual.com – Indonesian President Joko Widodo open Fintech Festival & Conference at Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE), Tangerang, Banten, which discussed the use of digital applications for the development of SMEs and the financial sector in Indonesia.
“The benefits or capabilities that digital technology should also see as a golden opportunity especially to reach those who have not been reached by the formal financial services,” said Jokowi in his speech on Tuesday (30/8).
According to the President, digital technology business sector is expected to reach remote areas in the country that have not received banking services to improve the financial literacy of local communities.
Jokowi appreciate the number of banks that have provided financial services to remote areas.
The new government also noted about 21.8 percent of Indonesian people who have a good level of financial literacy to financial institutions.
“Whereas financial literacy in society, for example in Singapore has reached 96 percent, 81 percent in Malaysia and in Thailand 78 percent. We’re 21.8 percent. This is what we’re after,” said Jokowi.
By using applications and digital technology, Jokowi hope the community can maximize of enterprise and business as well as the use of services financial institutions.
“This is what I think of things that used to be impossible now be possible because there is a ‘feedback’, because there are information technology and applications already in use and the speed that looks very fast,” said the President.
Events Indonesia Fintech Festival & Conference takes place from 29 to 30 August 2016 was organized by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (Kadin).
