Jakarta, Aktual.com – Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI), Agus Martowardojo has not been able to provide information related to the economic growth forecast in 2016, it is given to the growth of the first quarter of this year, missing the estimates.
“We can not talk about growth forecasts for 2016 are still above 5 percent, because it just will want to make a meeting by the Board of Governors, usually two weeks before to the consideration by the Board of Governors, we do not talk about policy,” Agus said when met at the Jakarta Convention Center on Wednesday (18/5)
Previous BI is projecting economic growth in the first quarter of between 5.1 to 5.2 percent, but the release issued by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) on 21 April 2016 declared the first quarter growth rate of only 4.92 percent.
BPS head Suryamin said economic growth in the first quarter of this year contracted or down 0.23 percent compared to the fourth quarter of 2015 by 5.04 percent.
He explained that the economic growth in the first quarter was affected by a number of factors from abroad. Among other commodity prices in the international market are low, China’s economy slowed from 6.8 percent to 6.7 percent and the US economy is still stagnant
“If the comparison with the fourth quarter of 2015 was because there are push terms of budget (government) and private,” said Suryamin.
