Yogyakarta, Aktual.com – Heavy rain on Mount Merapi and Merbabu, Central Java, has caused flash floods in Hamlet and Gratan Hamlet Sanden Wonolelo Village Sawangan District of Magelang regency, Central Java, on Sunday (20/3) at 14:45 pm.

“The current flood brought silt material occlude Magelang, Boyolali translucent,” said Head of Data Information and Public Relations BNPB Sutopo Purwo Nugroho through written statement received in Jakarta, Sunday (20/3).

He said one person was dragged flood so died. Victim on behalf of Misem (female, 70 years) Gratan hamlet, Wonolelo Village. Victims have been handed over to the victims’ families by the officer.

“One person was lightly injured and two people traumatized by the incident. In addition, the bridge connecting Gratan Hamlet, Village Wonolelo with Citran Hamlet, Jrakah Village, District Selo, Boyolali district was severely damaged due to the impact of flash floods,” he said.

Sutopo said BPBD with military, police, Department of Public Works, along with community volunteers cleaning the sludge material which closes the road.

At 20:30 pm, they said to him, condition of road already back. Meanwhile, flash floods also struck the village Sukasari, RT 04 RW 05, Padaawas village, Pasir Wangi, Garut on Saturday (19/3) at 15.00 WIB.

“The flash floods due to overflowing Cimanuk River upstream. A total of 14 homes were flooded up to one meter. Two houses were severely damaged. BPBD’s Garut together local Muspika had evacuated and work together to repair homes affected,” he said.

High intensity rainfall, he said, is estimated to potentially occur in some areas such as Java, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, Sulawesi, Sumatra mostly in the south and Papua. Potential flooding, landslides, and tornados remain high until early April.
