Koba, Aktual.com – Hundreds of flood victims in the Lampur village, Central Bangka, Bangka Belitung evacuated to the former building owned by PT Timah because their homes were sunken with a height of up to three meters.
“The village uses the former building owned by PT Timah to accommodate the flood victims,” said Dani, emergency response teams from The new National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Central Bangka, Tuesday (9/2).
He explained that hundreds of people were asked to leave their homes temporarily because of discharge water continues to rise because of the rain that kept pouring since Sunday (7/2) until Tuesday (9/2) morning.
“Currently, our officers continue to rescue and evacuate flood victims who were trapped in their homes by using rubber boats,” he said.
The evacuation of flood victims assisted by some villagers and local village officials. “Health workers are also stationed at the temporary shelter flood victims,” he said.
Aid will also continue to flow from the citizens in the form of energy and the nine basic forms of emergency aid.
“Currently our officers remain alert and we urge the general public continue to increase their vigilance because the rain has not stopped,” he said.
