San Francisco, Aktual.com – Indonesia decided to be consistent in calling for support of the Palestinian stance in international conference, including the ASEAN-US summit on 15-16 February 2016 in the United States.
“Indonesia is consistent to support Palestine, on various occasions, we always convey,” said Foreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi in San Francisco, Wednesday (17/2) in Jakarta.
He firmly supports for the Palestinians is one of Indonesia’s political stance which has been long established.
According to the Minister, perhaps that attitude is not one voice to other countries.
“We always brought that issue at various international forums,” he said.
Specialized in the US-ASEAN summit, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) also reaffirmed Indonesia’s support for Palestinian independence.
Support was announced by Head of State while speaking at the Working Dinner themed “On Regional Strategic Outlook” on ASEAN-United States (US) in Sunnylands Historic Home, California, United States (US), Monday (15/2) night local time Tuesday (16/2) pm.
President Jokowi used the occasion to remind the necessity of resolving disputes in Palestine.
The President stated that Indonesia’s support for the independence of Palestine continues to be done consistently.
In front of the Heads of State / Government of the member countries of ASEAN and the United States, President Jokowi said that one of the concrete form of contribution is the willingness of Indonesia to host the Summit (Summit) Extraordinary Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), on 6 -7 March 2016.
Minister Retno added that the OIC Extraordinary Summit scheduled to be held in Jakarta, will address the issue of Palestine and Al Quds. And, as the host, Indonesia will invite observers, including the United States.
