Jakarta, Aktual.com – The Ministry of Finance estimates that the plan imposition of excise tax on plastic packaging to the beverage bottles could potentially reach around Rp10 trillion.
“The potential is still counted because this is still a study. Which is clearly not up to Rp10 trillion. Value excise has not been implemented but will take into consideration the ability of the business world,” said the head of Customs and Excise Fiscal Policy Office, Ministry of Finance Nasrudin Joko age seminar in Jakarta, Tuesday (12/4).
Nasrudin said the imposition of excise tax on plastic water bottles will use the specified rate, instead of setting a percentage of the selling price of products.
However, the Ministry of Finance will make exceptions to certain plastic bottles.
“Depending on the bottle, if galom may not (taxed). All would be charged but there are exceptions. Which resposibility of excise the consumer but the withdrawal of the manufacturer,” said Nasrudin.
According to him, extending the excise duty on these plastic water bottle because they still lack an object other than goods subject to excise (BKC) in Indonesia, as well as to preserve the environment.
Some countries, such as Ghana, Kenya, Hungary and India are already running imposition excise rates on plastic for environmental reasons.
Policy imposition of excise tax on plastic water bottle will now be filed in the State Budget 2016 changes, however, the Ministry of Finance is still a dialogue with businesses in the field of food and beverage.
