Jakarta, Aktual.com – Indonesian government through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is targeting cooperation in the oil and gas sector with Iran after the lifting of international sanctions to that country since January.
“In Bogor yesterday a session (discussion) about the oil, and gas. There are nine or ten opportunities are being explored further,” said Minister Sudirman Said in Jakarta, Wednesday (24/2).
Further, he said, the cooperation that has long pioneered the two countries of which related to the import of oil, condensate and LPG.
“Hopefully in the near future could be the signature of the contract,” he added.
Sudirman said the meeting with the Iran government has been intense. Both sides have even been a few times to visit and explore the investment opportunities in various fields, including electrical and supporting industries.
“In Bali, previously, there is also a session (meeting) about the ‘rig’ and supporting industries,” he said.
General Director of Oil and Gas Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Wiratmaja Puja IGN said the meeting with the Iran delegation led Director General of Oil and Gas Ministry of Energy of Iran along with the public enterprises was discussed a lot of things.
“There was discussion on cooperation in the upstream side, where we do the exchange of data and technology,” he said.
The Indonesian government, continued Wiratmaja, also invited Iranian investors to invest in Indonesia. Instead, Iran also encourage Indonesian businessmen investing in the oil country.
“Others, in the processing sector, we encourage the supply of condensate, oil and LPG Iran to Indonesia. Also on hydrochemical development as well as ‘capacity building’,” he said.
Wiratmaja said it would follow up the meeting with the Indonesian delegation’s visit to Iran in March.
“If it had not been agreed investment value. For the realization of the purchase of ‘crude oil’ and also the amount of LPG is still being discussed,” he concluded.
