Jakarta, Aktual.com – Senior Researcher Indonesia Public Institute (IPI) Karyono Wibowo state the neutrality and objectivity of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) is one of the challenges to be faced candidate BIN head, Budi Gunawan.
“Intelligence Agency must be neutral, objective, and should not be interfered with political interests. The role of intelligence from the Orde Lama to date not always neutral, even the Orde Lama government uses state intelligence to maintain power,” said Karyono during a discussion in Jakarta, Wednesday (7/9).
According to him, the background Budi Gunawan who did not come from the military instead of substantial issues that need not be a matter of debate because of its history BIN has also been led by Sutanto (2009-2011).
“Budi Gunawan among police and political elite considered to have the capacity and intellect that qualified as BIN head,” he said.
Similarly, political observer Boni Hargens said political interference in the execution of duties and authority BIN cause a decline in public confidence in the intelligence agencies.
Allegations were also reinforced by rumors that President Joko Widodo not much use information from BIN because he has a special staff for intelligence at the Istana Kepresidenan.
“There are worries BIN leadership controlled by a particular group or authority, this is the challenge that must be solved by Budi Gunawan,” he said.
