Semarang, aktual.com – Offering a rich, colorful visual experience in every corner is what makes Kampung Pelangi or Rainbow Village of Semarang unique. This is the reason why the neighborhood, located in Dr. Sutomo Street no. 89, Randusari, Semarang, is one of the most popular destinations among foreign and domestic tourists.
Before becoming popular as Kampung Pelangi, the place was a slum area known as Kampung Gunung Brintik. But thanks to the effort of the city mayor Hendrar Prihadi, the place underwent a major revamp, with houses painted in rainbow colors, along with 3D mural paintings. Following this, the local government officially renamed it Kampung Pelangi in 2017. The popularity of Kampung Pelangi has also inspired Grand Edge Hotel Semarang and Nippon Paint to contribute in the preservation of this iconic destination.
Nippon Paint Regional Sales Manager for Central Java, Marselino Najoan announced that Nippon Paint has donated 25 pails or 451 kilograms of exterior paint for a total area of 6000 square meters or 150 houses. They also carried vibrant mural at Jembatan Kampung Pelangi (Kampung Pelangi bridge)
“We are grateful and appreciate all the supports provided by Nippon Paint to repaint Kampung Pelangi and beautify this Semarang Icon. We are looking forward to more collaborations in the future,” said H.S. Handoyo – Corporate Hotel Manager of PT Kekancan Mukti in Kampung Pelangi, Semarang, Central Java on Tuesday (25/05/2021)
Marselino added, “Nippon Paint supports Kampung Pelangi as a socio-cultural icon of Semarang, Central Java. We believe in the power of paint to uplift communities and making Kampung Pelangi more fun, livable and enjoyable.”
