Jakarta, Aktual.com – Member of Commission IX Saleh Partaonan Daulay said Saleh received excessive treatment of foreign workers may cause social jealousy among local workers.
“The arrival of foreign workers in considerable numbers to Indonesia has been quite disturbing. On the other hand, employment is still slightly and the unemployment rate is still very high,” said Saleh via short message received here on Tuesday (9/8).
According to him, if the preferential treatment for foreign workers that trend continues, not only can cause jealousy. Saleh concerned local workers also may feel alienated in their own country.
When that happens, it can erode the value of their nationality. Moreover, the foreign workers did not understand the culture and local customs.
“The government should be aware of the phenomenon. Do not get preferential treatment for foreign workers allowed to continue,” he said.
Saleh said that foreign labor is quite a lot of work in these areas. One of them in steam power plants and coal in Silver Overlay, Deli Serdang, North Sumatra. He gets people’s complaints when the recess.
Therefore, Saleh called on the government, both central and local governments to monitor foreign workers who enter Indonesia. In the case in Deli Serdang, Saleh asked the Department of Labor North Sumatra for active surveillance.
“According to reports from the public, foreign workers who work in the Silver Overlay originating from China. Not explained since when they work there,” he said.
