Jakarta, Aktual.com – Minister of Finance (Finance) Sri Mulyani Indrawati said the tax issues of electronic commerce is currently a world problem and working on appropriate solutions to overcome these problems.
“With the wide range of ideas about ‘e-commerce’ which uses the platform ‘online’ and sellers electronically connect buyers, this raises something very serious issue,” she said in Jakarta, Friday (16/9).
The minister said they were seeking a solution that is adequate to cope with global phenomena on electronic commerce transactions so that the perpetrators of the business may be taxed in accordance with their economic activities.
He added that a team of the Ministry of Finance is making studies and proposals regarding the form of taxation for businesses trading online, before eventually rising taxation rules written related to it.
“I’ve asked the team at the Ministry of Finance to see the trend of economic activity like this and at the same time do a comparison with other countries in order not to create a regulatory regime that is not competitive, and we become unable to collect state revenues,” he said.
