Jakarta, Aktual.com – Minister of Religious Affairs (Menag) Lukman Hakim Syaifuddin appealed to the regional head candidates who follow the democratic party Unison elections in 2017 compete fairly with the advanced promotional campaigns rather than confrontational.
“We are human Indonesian. So that in any democratic party like the elections, we should always maintain an attitude of tolerance,” he said in Jakarta, Friday(7/10).
He said pluralistic Indonesian society makes the election dynamics difficult to avoid issues of ethnicity, religion, race and intergroup (Racial). Hence Menag understands if people choose candidates for regional head based on racial preferences.
However, in a democratic country everyone entitled to determine the appropriate selection view, reason, and faith respectively. However, Menag appealed to racial issues, especially concerning religion are a more civilized way so as not to damage the harmony among the nation’s children.
Lukman cited verse’s interpretation manipulation of religion to discredit certain candidates as conflict-prone actions. Likewise, the statement that harass, insult or vilify the content of scripture also indicates the act is not civilized.
“I ask the candidates and his campaign team in order not to injure the religious grandeur with actions such as manipulating, despised, harassed, especially vilify religious teachings. Do not do the dirty campaign, or use religion to justify negative actions,” he explained.
To the owners of the voting rights, he was invited to be used properly and responsibly. In the sense of seeing the best candidate for the vision, mission and programs proposed.
“Pay particular attention to assessing their programs. What is really required in accordance with the problems faced by the region, “he said.
In addition to the voters and candidates, Menag also reminded the organizers of the elections to be more sensitive to the use of religious issues. If notice any violation related to religious issues, he asked to be addressed. With so, potential conflicts arising from religious issues can be anticipated early.
