Jakarta, Aktual.com – Through Presidential Regulation No. 18 of 2016 the government to accelerate the utilization of waste into new energy sources.

So far the government has set seven cities of indonesia namely Jakarta, Tangerang city, Bandung, Semarang, Surakarta, Surabaya and Makassar City as a pilot project for the construction of waste-based power plants.

“On February 13, 2016 the government established seven cities as a pilot project to accelerate the implementation of the development of waste to energy through constraction of electrical rubbish based,” said the Directorate General (Dirjen) of Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE), Rida Mulyana, at Hotel Borobudur Jakarta, Tuesday (3/5).

In the application of the regulation of the purchase of electricity, the government has set the feed-in tariff scheme for power plant waste by using the currency of the US Dollar. This effort is claimed as a precaution to economic fluctuations.

“This desire is the commitment of Indonesia in order to participate in the world keep temperature rise a maximum of 2 degrees Celsius,” said Rida.

To note based a survey conducted by the Ministry of Energy in 2012 and 2013, the potential for waste in landfills (TPA) major cities in Indonesia can reach 2 GW of electricity generation, while the potential is already utilized only reached a capacity of 17.6 MW, or 0.9 percent of the total potential.
