Jakarta, Aktual.com – Development of Masela mine gas, including the construction of refineries using offshore schemes or offshore plant inefficient and unprofitable state.

Association of Indonesian Political Economy (AEPI) said gas production available in Masela, will be drained only to cover the financing of the construction of the refinery is too expensive.

“Investment Masela was $ 30 billion or about Rp420 trillion, so it does not make sense to me. Investment at price of USD1.8 per million British thermal unit (MMBTU) are investments that do not make sense, because then we will replace it with cost recovery. So with the price of gas now, the entire production will be depleted to cover their cost recovery, we can not be anything,” said Director of AEPI, Salamuddin Daeng in Jakarta, Monday (14/3).

Also according to Salamuddin, Masela gas reserves will be an accident of history for Indonesia because the government never thought to encourage SOE have a stake in the mine.

He said he was disappointed because the debate is happening not talk about ownership, in fact the opposite is the struggle between the Minister about the development schemes refinery.

“It shall Pertamina was present, the minimum can be 51 percent, it’s really no debate, even the debate dragged to the land and sea, I hope the debate on state ownership must take at least 51 percent,” he concluded.
